WILMA II

The storm is past and we are safe.

As the storm approached, my wife, Bonnie, was very nervous.

We slept fitfully, waking from time to time to the sound of freight trains and jet planes passing by, which turned out to be Wilma.

As dawn broke, I dediced to look outside and noticed that our front porch was fairly dry.

Our house faces south and the winds were screeming out of the north. The result was that our front porch was both wind and water free.

So we sat on the front porch and watched Wilma in all of her fury.

She ripped some shingles from a neighbor's roof. She bent a palm tree further and further, until finally it was uprooted from the ground. She sent sheets of rain parallel to the ground and clouds by like foam from a shaving cream can.

We were later able to survey the neighborhood.

Several trees were down. One house lost its back porch. A camper was overturned. One house had a tree leaning on it, but nothing was broken therein. Some pool screens were ripped away and at least one pool cage was distroyed.

We had no flooding but we lost power for about ten hours. We never lost land-line phone service, but cell phone service was disrupted until about 3:30 pm. Water service was never interrupted.

And, praise the Lord, Wilma managed only to rip one tab of one shingle from our roof.

The radio station is off the air until power is restored in that area, and I'm sure that will be accomplished by the end of the day.

We are experiencing a cool front and some breezy weather and it is beautiful outside.

Thank you for your prayers and concern.

All is back to normal here and God is now and forever on His throne.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Praise Him all creatures here below!
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts!
Praise Father, Son and Holy ghost.

Praise God you and yours are safe, Joe.
It's an awesome display of power, isn't it? I've been through 4 or 5 in my time, and they never fail to amaze me. The worst one I was in was in Okinawa in 1968 on a little radar site. If I'd been sober, it would have scared me, but I was way out there then, and we had a hurricane party on the roof of my barracks. Stupid people!
God is so far above our meager minds. We have no conception of the power He is.

I was thinking of you last night as well - so good to hear all is well there.

Is it time to move to Montana yet?

carla: You know I was looking at some of the pictures of Montana and they were absolutely gorgeous. If they could move Montana to a warmer clime, I'd move there in a heartbeat.

Wonderful to hear you are ok. it seems that many bloggers reside in Florida. I love storms, but that is a bit terrifying.

Joe,
Rose and I were worried about you (in a Christian sense of worry.) We tried to listen to your radio station and could not hear anything, so we are praising God for your report. We suspected just as you said that the power was off.

Thankful to our Father for our brother and sister.

Praise God....I'm glad you and Bonnie are safe, joe. We've got the remnants of Wilma now in the form of a nor'eastern. So far today we've had six inches of snow, the trees are breakin' under the weight of the wet snow because they still have leaves on them, and the powers been out a few times, but all is well!

Glad you are all okay! I know that the storm can be a problem in itself, but it's interesting to watch the power of God in action, isn't it! I watched Rita in a similar way, and was awestruck by it. It was my first.

Hello Joe,

I am thankful that you and the family are safe. I know it has been a while, but I have posted on my site again. I think today's post will hopefully explain why I took a leave of absence for a time. I am looking forward to hearing from you again.

Is everything ok at the otherside of the world? John's blog was somehow archive! Donna not posting!

I'm dropping a line to check things out! I'm glad that Bonnie wrote to say both of you are safe.
Praise God for his protection on his children.

Will continue to pray for your safety. Take care!
