That said, there is a legitimate question to be asked: If an unsaved person visited your church, would he (or she) know what the "fuss" is all about?
Would he know of his condition in relationship to God?
Would he know that repentance is absolutely necessary to establish a relationship with God?
Would he know that salvation is a gift of God's grace and is realized by faith in, and only in, the finished work of Christ at the cross of Calvary?
Proper understanding of and application of Scripture will always lead to the need for repentance, for confessing Christ as Lord and for belief in what He has done through His death burial and resurrection. That is the sum-total of what Scripture is about.
ANY sermon that does not reveal every person's sin problem and the solution to that problem in Christ has failed to fulfill God's desire for that sermon.
Every service should involve worshiping God. Every service should involve celebrating Christ's resurrection. Every service should also include why we need salvation and how repentance and belief in Christ is necessary to achieve it.
