Have you seen Al Gore's movie, "An Inconvenient Truth?"
Were you impressed?
Here are my impressions:
1. It is a very boring slide show masquerading as a documentary.
2. It contains some tiny bit of truth.
3. It is full of bald-faced lies about which there is NO scientific backing whatever.
4. It concludes that we have but eight years before we have reached the end of the viable world.
I particularly like that last one, since Al Gore said in one interview that he had been telling this story since the middle of the 1990s.
Let's see, 2006 minus 1995...hmmm that's 11 years.
In another interview, he said he's been telling the story for the last three decades.
OK...one decade is 10 years. That means three decades must be about 30 years.
So he's been telling the story for 30 years!
That means that the earth ended between eight and 22 years ago and we missed it!
Oh NO!

Senior Version

JESUS LOVES ME Jesus loves me, this I know, Though my hair is white as snow. Though my sight is growing dim, Still He bids me trust in Him
(CHORUS) YES, JESUS LOVES ME... YES, JESUS LOVES ME.. YES, JESUS LOVES ME FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO. Though my steps are oh, so slow, With my hand in His I'll go. On through life, let come what may, He'll be there to lead the way.
(CHORUS) Though I am no longer young, I have much which He's begun. Let me serve Christ with a smile, Go with others the extra mile.
(CHORUS) When the nights are dark and long, In my heart He puts a song. Telling me in words so clear, "Have no fear, for I am near."
(CHORUS) When my work on earth is done, And life's victories have been won. He will take me home above, Then I'll understand His love.
(CHORUS) I love Jesus, does he know? Daily I will tell Him so. Jesus loves to hear me say, That I love Him every day.

1Ch 21:17 And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
1Ch 23:3 Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.

Da 5:26 This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.
Ho 1:10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

How to Read - Today's Edition
OK.
Today I am going to get myself in trouble.I know it going in and I don't care.
"Trouble" is my middle name...I'm used to it. (My middle name is actually "Edward," but who's counting?)
I want to take you to a controversial section of Scripture that, in my humble, but correct, opinion, very few people read correctly, because very few people really know how to read.
There are many things that affect the meaning of sentences: punctuation ("I would not have you ignorant, brethren" vs. "I would not have you, ignorant brethren."); syntax errors (“You’re” is always a contraction of “you are.” If you’ve written “you’re,” try substituting “you are.” If it doesn’t work, the word you want is “your.”) and others.
The Scripture at which we will look is Romans 8:29: For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many believers.
To begin with, the sentence begins with the conjunction, "for," which indicates that it is a continuation of a thought. (The idea is that because of what had been said, the following conclusion may be drawn.)
We all know and love the "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (my italics).
Verse 29 is a continuation of that thought (and the ones that went before it).
"For whom he did foreknow..."Foreknowledge does not imply causation.
Scientists know to the moment when Haley's comet will appear again. The fact that they know it does not mean that they cause it or control it.
But it is clear from the context of the entire section of Scripture that God is omniscient, and His omniscience is the topic of the section.
We may conclude, therefore, that God, indeed, knows who will be saved. He knows that from before the beginning of and after the end of time. In other words, He knows in eternity, which is totally free of time.
Since He knows who will be saved, He can say that those particular people (whom He knew would be saved, but did not cause to be saved, at least not according to this verse of Scripture), will be destined from "eternity to eternity" to be conformed to Christ.
Now, that makes sense.
One of Christians' main purposes is to become more Christ-like.
So here is a proper interpretation of this Scripture: The ones He knew would accept Christ, after they had genuinely done so, would have four things happen.
First, they would be predestined to conform to Christ's image.
Secondly, they would be predestined to be called.
Thirdly, they would be predestined to be justified (be seen by God "just as if they had never sinned," i.e.: saved).
Finally, they would be predestined to be glorified.
Only them.
Those who refuse to accept Christ, will not experience those blessings.
All of this is caused from "eternity to eternity" AFTER they trust in, and only in, His finished work at the cross of Calvary and Jesus' resurrection.
The problem is, most of us have an improper view of eternity, thinking that it is some ethereal infinity of time.
Infinity and eternity, however, are not the same thing.
An infinity of time (were there such a thing) would stretch forward for an unimaginable period of time.
Eternity, though, has no time reference at all.
In fact, the moment we are saved we enter eternity, which is the wholeness of the Person of God.
Let me explain that...oops...I can't. My mind won't wrap around it. I am time-bound. God is not.
It is the very timelessness of God that precludes Him from "predestinating" salvation in the usual "forever" sense of the word.
By the way, that is the reason is absolutely contrary to the character of God for someone who is saved to come unsaved.
Once one is saved, one is predestinated to all of those things listed above.
I submit that this is neither an "istic" or an "inian" position. It is, rather, an awareness that at my best moment (which is at least as good as your best moment, give-or- take a moment or two), I cannot fathom the totality of God."...now I know in part, but then I shall know even as also I am known." (I Cor. 13:12)
I know that if He is for me, no one can be against me.
Why, after I was saved, He predestinated me to be conformed to the image of Christ, to be called, to be justified and to be glorified, I don't know. But I'm glad He did.
(No need to over-thank me for helping you read correctly.)

Whence Growth?
It is my humble, but correct, opinion that God wants His church to grow.
"And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." (Acts 2:47)
Daily.
Most years have 365 days in them.
If the Lord adds daily...let's see, now...that adds up to 365 per year.
Is your church growing by 365 per year?
Why is the Lord not adding to your church 365 saved people per year?
I think I know. Same reason He is not adding them to mine.
See, Christ has no hands but our hands. No feet but our feet. No mouth but our mouths.
One might conclude, therefore, that IF God is going to do anything, He is going to do it through us.
If He does not do it through us, He will not do it at all.
How many of us sit around wondering why, if we have "prayed the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers," He isn't sending them forth?
The answer He is, and we're them!
We are the laborers for which we pray.
Here's what that means.
If we want the Sunday School to grow (remember, He wants to add daily), then we must do what He has told us to do to grow!
If we want the Discipleship Training Ministry to grow, then we must do what He has told us to do to grow!
If we want the Missions Ministry to grow, then we must do what He has told us to do to grow!
If we want the Youth Ministry to grow, then we must do what He has told us to do to grow!
If we will not do what He has told us to do to grow, then it will not get done, BECAUSE HE IS NOT GOING TO DO IT WITHOUT OUR PARTICIPATION!
He is not going to drop new Christians out of the sky. He will not send helpers to those who will not help Him.
He has chosen to use us, His people, to do His work here on Earth.
After all, we're His body. (Romans 12:4ff).
As soon as we (we meaning all of us who pretend...I mean profess to be His children) get off of our.....pews and start doing the going, telling and baptizing, He will honor our efforts with far more than 365 per year.
Matthew 28:19ff: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you..."
Many of us seem to think that if the preacher preaches real good, the church will grow.
But the truth is, when:
The Holy Spirit leads,
The Word of God is our textbook,
and the people of God share the gospel of Christ,
then we will grow.
Not until then, though.

Sunday Praise
We come to praise you, Father, for sending the Son, who is a safe haven for us in the midst of our trials and who provides so rich a salvation.
The Haven of Rest
Words: Henry L. Gilmour and John R. Sweney
Music: George D. Moore
http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/h/a/v/havenres.htm
My soul in sad exile was out on life’s sea,
So burdened with sin and distressed,
Till I heard a sweet voice, saying,“Make Me your choice”;
And I entered the “Haven of Rest”!
Refrain
I’ve anchored my soul in the “Haven of Rest,”
I’ll sail the wide seas no more;
The tempest may sweep over wild, stormy, deep,
In Jesus I’m safe evermore.
I yielded myself to His tender embrace,
In faith taking hold of the Word,
My fetters fell off, and I anchored my soul;
The “Haven of Rest” is my Lord.
Refrain
I’ve anchored my soul in the “Haven of Rest,”
I’ll sail the wide seas no more;
The tempest may sweep over wild, stormy, deep,
In Jesus I’m safe evermore.
The song of my soul, since the Lord made me whole,
Has been the old story so blest,Of Jesus,
Who’ll save whosoever will have
A home in the “Haven of Rest.”
Refrain
I’ve anchored my soul in the “Haven of Rest,”
I’ll sail the wide seas no more;
The tempest may sweep over wild, stormy, deep,
In Jesus I’m safe evermore.
How precious the thought that we all may recline,
Like John, the belovèd so blest,
On Jesus’ strong arm, where no tempest can harm,
Secure in the “Haven of Rest.”
Refrain
I’ve anchored my soul in the “Haven of Rest,”
I’ll sail the wide seas no more;
The tempest may sweep over wild, stormy, deep,
In Jesus I’m safe evermore.
O come to the Savior, He patiently waits
To save by His power divine;
Come, anchor your soul in the “Haven of Rest,”
And say, “My Belovèd is mine.”
Refrain
I’ve anchored my soul in the “Haven of Rest,”
I’ll sail the wide seas no more;
The tempest may sweep over wild, stormy, deep,
In Jesus I’m safe evermore.

Wazzzuuup?
Sunday: Left for Inverness, Florida after church. Drove up to see my mother, who has been diagnosed with bladder cancer, on top of enlarged heart, emphysema, asthma and only one-half of one kidney. Tropical Storm Alberto decides to visit, too.
Sunday Night: Mother fell out of bed. We all thought it was caused by a mini-stroke.
Monday Morning: Mother is found to have raging bladder infection with fever, explaining her weakness and inability to speak clearly. Hospital administers strong antibiotic. Alberto is a non-event.
Monday Afternoon: Mother sleeps a lot.
Tuesday Morning: Mother is awake and her speach is clear.
Tuesday Afternoon: Mother is awake, clear of speech and cracking jokes.
Tuesday Afternoon: We have to head back home. Debit card won't work to buy gas. Try three different stations. Search for Bank of America to check balance. Can't find one.
Tuesday Afternoon: I remember that BOA issued a new debit card. Try it. It works. Buy gas. Drive home.
Tuesday Night: Colapse from fatigue. Sleep until...
Wednesday Morning: Get up and blog.
Wednesday Afternoon: Remember that I forgot to publish blog.
Wednesday Afternnon: Publish blog.
Here it is.
Rejoice!?

Curvacious
I used to love when my teachers or professors would grade on the curve.
As brilliant as you all think I am, I was not a good student.
When the tests were tough, the curve gave me a chance to get a decent grade, in spite of the fact that I did not know the facts.
There was one time, in college physics, when I made the second highest grade in the class. I scored 40% on the test.
Because of the curve, I made a 'B, " while the best grade in the class was made by a girl who scored a 98% on the test and got an "A."
I got to thinkin', what if God graded on the curve?
Those who were closest to perfection would score an "A" in God's eyes, while those of us who were farther from perfection (does that include you?), would score lower.
Then we would have to ask, "Is a 'B' on God's final good enough?
Actually, God absolutely and irrevocably requires 100% perfection to even come into His presence.
That means an "A" based on even a 99.99% score is not enough to earn someone eternal life.
So we are all hopeless, right?
Right.
But the good news is that God knew we would be hopeless, so He decided to impute perfection to us.
To impute means to credit to a person or a cause.
God, in Christ, has imputed to those who trust in, and only in Christ's finished work at the cross of Calvary, His perfection.
Think of it! When God looks at me, He looks through Christ and sees perfection in me!
Imagine that!
So I get an "A" in God's eyes based not on my performance, but on Christ's.
As one of my favorite preachers, the late Dr. Adrian Rogers, used to say, "God grades on the CROSS, not the curve."

Help! I Think
Can somebody please give me a step-by-step as to how to make my profile, blogroll and stuff come back up where it belongs?
I have checked the HTML in the template and can see nothing wrong, but there must be something!
Maybe my lysdexia prevents me from seeing it straigth.
Thanks.

Still Here
Yesterday I stepped out of my front door fully expecting to fall into an abyss.
After all, we just experienced 6/6/06.
But the earth was still here.
I'm still here.
Are you?

I'm still here.

Voodoo Christianity - The Numbers game
Welcome to 6 6 06!
I can't remember the last time the MSM was so spiritual.
Eight, maybe nine, stories I've seen so far about whether this might be the day of the end of the world, because of the date.
Say what?
If numbers had any thing to do with it, the world would have ended on 6/6/6, not 6/6/06!
Only we used a different calendar then.
Well WE didn't. Most of us were not around.
So what? Did we become heavenly on 7/7/7?
Will it happen again on 7/7/07?
Reminds me of the excitement of the time I read this:
On Wednesday of this week,
at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00in the morning,
the time and date will be
01:02:03 04/05/06.

That won't ever happen again!
I stayed up all night just waiting for it to happen.
At 01:02:01 the power went off! My electric clocks stopped working and I could not see my wind-up clock.
I missed the whole thing!
To be sure, there are significant numbers in Scripture, including the 666 mark of the beast. BUT they are for understanding, not for present consumption.
When the time comes, those that are yet to happen will take their place in significance.
In the mean time, let's not get carried away with the supersticious nonsense of numerology.
We will plunge ourselves into
VOODOO CHRISTIANITY!

Sunday Praise
Father, we come to you in Jesus' name to humbly ask that you never let us tire of the wonderful story of your love for us shown in Chrits's sacrificial death on the cross and His resurrection. May we love it so much that we cannot but tell it as we go that others may come to know your love for us through Him.
We've A Story To Tell To the Nations

We’ve a story to tell to the nations,
That shall turn their hearts to the right,
A story of truth and mercy,
A story of peace and light,
A story of peace and light.
Refrain
For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
And the dawning to noonday bright;
And Christ’s great kingdom shall come on earth,
The kingdom of love and light.
We’ve a song to be sung to the nations,
That shall lift their hearts to the Lord,
A song that shall conquer evil
And shatter the spear and sword,
And shatter the spear and sword.
Refrain
For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
And the dawning to noonday bright;
And Christ’s great kingdom shall come on earth,
The kingdom of love and light.
We’ve a message to give to the nations,
That the Lord who reigns up above
Has sent us His Son to save us,
And show us that God is love,
And show us that God is love.
Refrain
For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
And the dawning to noonday bright;
And Christ’s great kingdom shall come on earth,
The kingdom of love and light.
We’ve a Savior to show to the nations,
Who the path of sorrow has trod,
That all of the world’s great peoples
Might come to the truth of God,
Might come to the truth of God.
Refrain
For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
And the dawning to noonday bright;
And Christ’s great kingdom shall come on earth,

A Stuttering Attempt
It has been a wierd week.
After my last post, the one for Memorial Day, I had a full day at church.
Because my income has dropped dramatically, I have been looking for something I could do from home to suppliment my income.
I filled out an online form promising to connect me with companies that might just fill the bill.
There was only one company that contacted me, and that should have been my first clue. But I did not see it at the time.
I was contacted by a nice lady who wanted me to sign up with her company to make a six figure income.
Now I like a six figure income as well as the next person, so I went gung ho over the thing and spent the entire week with interviews, reading the web site, on the phone with "interview" calls and doing a LOT of research.
The company is a Multi-Level-Marketing company with an ozone and ion generating "air purifier," coupled with an ultra violet light.
The bottom line ended up being that it looked really good until...
My research turned up that the company had been ordered by the Federal Trade Commission to cease and desist from certain health claims the company had been making about its product.
They did not cease and desist. Instead they went the re-word route.
FTC then slapped them with a contempt charge.
Then, as I continued to research the company (because, after all, lots of companies have been rightly or wrongly accused of things by FTC), I found out that there are some other issues.
The Environmental Protection Agency did a study of these types of machines and found that the products could actually be harmful if the accompanying directions that come with the machine were followed.
You see, ozone (O3) is a form of oxygen that is generated when electricity is passed through air. In fact, every time there is a lightning strike, ozone is created, thus replenishing the ozone in the atmosphere. (Ever hear of the depletion of the ozone layer resulting in a supposed increase in skin cancer?)
It turns out that too much ozone in an inclosed place is poisonous to humans. It also combines with aldyhides (formaldyhide, etc.) to form carcinogens.
An increase in natural ozone in a room where a new carpet has been lain, for instance, would form such aldyhides, thus resulting in a potential health issue.
In order to "purify" the air, ozone levels would have to be elevated to higher than safe levels.
Ion generators (of which this machine is one) can remove certain particulates from the air. This is done by changing the atomic polarity of the particlates, after which they are attracted to solid surfaces in the area that are of the opposite polarity.
Just think! You can take all of the particulate molecules in your house and deposit them on the walls, countertops, floors, and any other flat surface! What a deal! Now you can clean your house twice as often as you normally do!
As for the ultra-violet light, it does indeed kill bacteria, viruses and other microbes just as advertised as long as those microbes pass within a few inches of the light, which is imbedded in the fanless machine.
To add to the mix, the American Lung Association has listed ozone and ozone/ion generators as among those entities that can cause resiratory cancers. Not good.
As if the machine itself were not a little more than suspect, I asked many times how much it would cost to "get involved" with the company.
Not until three videos, three phone "interviews" (counting the initial contact), and countless hours with examining the web site was I finally told how much it would cost and it turned out to be (I kid you not) between $185.00 and $3,200.00! That's some range!
This for a machine that retails for between $699.00 and $750.00!
At the $185.00 level I could have a machine to place in someone's home and then sell to them. The $185.00 was supposedly to "secure" the machine.
Now think about it. If $185.00 would secure the machine for the supplier, the actual cost of producing the machine must be less than that, because the manufacturer still has to make his money. $699.00 is a huge mark-up on $185.00!
The company was going to be so kind as to charge my credit card with the money needed and if I was not satisfied, I could, at my expense, ship it back to them LESS A $35.00 SHIPPING AND HANDLING FEE!
At the end of the last telephone "interview" (during which I heard the audio to a video I had already heard twice), I told the nice lady who contacted me that I would pass on her kind offer.
Do you think I did the right thing?
