Hurricane Katrina was bearing down on New Orleans.
With a kind of gall that only a politician could muster, the Democrats laid the blame at Presiden Bush's feet. He was at least responsible for the people who were told to evacuate but did not.
They also blamed him for the weakness of the levees, even though they were built long before he became President.
Then there was the economy.
Because of his terrible handling of the economy, including those horrible tax cuts, gas prices were up, the housing boom was ending, the stock market was doomed and the American Dream was fast coming to an end.
Additionally, because of his terrible handling of the war in Iraq, we were about to experience "another Viet Nam," troop morale was bound to fall and the people of Iraq wanted us out NOW. The insurgents were out of control.
All of this "bad news"...all of which could be blamed on George W. Bush.
Tonight I watched ABC news as they reported that New Orleans is about to completely recover from the hurricane, needing only time to finish the job.
They also reported the following: the economy is booming beyond the wildest expectations in spite of Hurricane Katrina (an observaton made by the newscaster); gas prices are at their lowest level in a long time; employment is WAY up; the housing boom has NOT subsided and the American Dream is alive and well.
Suicide bombings in Iraq are way down, the infrastructure of Iraq is way up, as is the morale of the troops.
The new Constitution in Iraq is in place and is beginning to inspire the people.
The military and the police of Iraq are taking on more and more of the responsibility of protecting their country.
All of this was reported tonight by ABC News, to their credit.
Guess whose name was not mentioned even once as having anything to do with any of the good news that they (ABC News) were forced to no longer ignore.
I won't mention his name, but his initials are George W. Bush.
And so it goes.

Well I think we know what that says about the media. Hmm...not surprised by that one at all.
A certain husband of mine noticed this propensity toward blaming Bush for everything during the last campaign. He would go around saying "life sucks and it's all George W. Bush's fault". It cracked me up because that was, in effect, what all these psuedo-intellectual left wingers were saying.
I don't think people can comprehend and understand how difficult being President is. Especially the terms George W. Bush has served, he has had A LOT on his plate. Prayer for our president, is so needed. Although I may not agree with all his decisions, he is President, we need to respect him, and trust him to make decisions for our country. Job well done so far in my book.
Good for you, Joe....I'm on your side. GW is my Pres...people should leave him alone!
I am amazed that ABC even noted anything positive, but not surprised they didn't include Bush as having anything to do with it!!!
Yellow Journalism?
We have a couple in our church here who left New Orleans due to Katrina. He's never worked consistently in his life, neither has she. They are learning responsibility and LOVE it. They say they never want to go back to New Orleans or their old life where they were "kept in a bad neighborhood and stuck in welfare." Those are his words, not mine!
I guess my point is that the hurricane has done something the government can't/wouldn't do for at least a few. Now if we can somehow get the media fixed...
People like to dish out the blame (whether necessary or not) but when it comes to giving credit for something good, they don't want to give credit where credit is due for some reason...

GW always gets the blame. Have you noticed lately how grey Mr. Bush looks? I can't imagine the stress he is under.
Thanks for the post.
