This was Wednesday, July 12, 2006:
A self-confident Hizballah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah threatened Israel and denied that Israeli troops had penetrated deep into Lebanese territory on Wednesday after his group abducted two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border attack.
Hizballah unleashed a barrage of rocket and mortar fire at Israeli communities along the northern border on Wednesday morning. Three Israeli soldiers were killed and two captured when Hizballah terrorists attacked two armored patrol vehicles on the Israeli side of the Lebanese border with explosives and gunfire.
Four hundred rockets were fired at the northern part of Israel.
Have you heard one reference to that today?
No.
What you heard was that Lebanon retaliated against the "horrible" attacks by Israel on them.
Why were the attacks by Israel horrible, but the attacks by Lebanon on relatively quiet Israeli cities not horrible?
Suppose you were in Chicago and a group of people in Canada launched 400 rockets into Chicago? Would you expect our nation to respond, or would you expect us to just say, "Well, let's not snap to judgement. Maybe there were mitigating circumstances and we should ask them to please stop?"
This is EXACTLY what the press and the international community are asking Israel to do.
Remember, Jews were "invited" to leave Lebanon with the promise that if they did there would be no more attacks on Israel. They left. There were more attacks (400) on Israel.
As politely as they possibly can, Israel should tell the Lebanese to vacate Lebanon within 48 hours because their country is about to be totally flattened.
Israel is surrounded by countries that either want them blown off of the map, or refuse to recognize them as a ligitimate country.
They have a right to protect themselves and they must.
Remember, on October 23, 1983, Hizballah killed 240 of our Marines in Beruit, where they had been invited. One of them was my friend.
They are not nice people.
They are not civilized people.
They are barbaric people.
They are proud of it.
I believe it was Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah himself who declared, "We love death more than Israel loves life."
What an uplifting assertation!
The "world community" thinks Israel should back off. So does the Pope.
Why don't they think Hizballah should back off?
I think Hizballah should back off.
But I know they will not, because they have demonstrated that they will not.
Therefore they must be removed from the picture.
If the "world community" does not understand that, too bad.
So sorry.
Bye!

Joe, you gotta give those Israeli's credit for their firm stance in the midst of global dissent.
It is so amazing, if I did not realize that God has blinded their eyes, I would never understand it all either.
Truly, Jerusalem is becoming a cup of trembling to the whole world as Zechariah prophesied.
Let us continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
Shalom!
Overwhelming.
But thank you for sharing,
Would I be out of place to say I think they're all "bad guys?" That is, neither is more heroic or villainous than the other.
They are two groups of anger-driven killers, equally ruthless and thirsty for vengeance. One does something the other doesn't like, and the other takes revenge. Then the first group tries to get the other back for said revenge. It's a perpetual cycle of killing.
See what happens when a culture is dictated by hate? When retribution is a way of life? When "turn the other cheek" is the farthest thing from the minds of the people, replaced instead by "an eye for an eye, or maybe a couple extra eyes just to get even."
It would be almost funny if so many lives didn't hang in the balance. They're like two little kids fighting over a tootsie roll. With rockets. While I agree that the media bias is a sad thing, I cannot respond by making the same mistake in favor of the other team.
Thank you for your post. I have been gleaning posts on this war in Israel, and it is a war, and am trying to understand why there is so much hate over there.
Israel was established by God. It seems that God is hated by people over there just as He is in our own country.
So what is the solution? It certainly isn't letting Israel be destroyed!!!
Thank you,
Betty G
I've been to Israel recently and to my joy, the people there are simply awesome actually. I won't believe that Israel is doing something bad coz they are the kind of people whom I really have much respect for. They simply love life and even to the language, there's so much meaning in each Hebrew character. This is something I really want to support Israel for coz they have been so heavily persecuted over the centuries. I believe every major event happened for a purpose - to prepare for our Lord's 2nd coming.
Joe~
This was a great eye opening post. Especially for those who have actually read it with the mindset of understanding your point.
The deep contrast between a peace loving people, their democratic state, and love for life; far out weighs the anger-driven killers who look for every opportunity to strike fear in the hearts of unarmed women and children through terror.
Your example of Canada attacking the USA was well put. The state of Israel has a responsibility to protect her people. NOT just turn a blind eye, as if the only thing at stake is a Tootsie Roll.
Joe you have not made a mistake (as if you were concerned) by pointing this out. Thank you for doing so.
As Brother Jim said,
Let us continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
Shalom!
