Well, well, well.

What a week!

Those of you who are exceedingly bright and regular readers will remember that I told you of the crash of the hard drive of our main on-air computer at the Christian radio station at which I work.

After that, there were 4,400+ audio and place-hold files that needed to be rebuilt.

I finally got that job completed Tuesday at about 9:00 am. Tuesday at 10:00 am, a dump truck got tangled up in the guy wires of a power pole and, instead of stopping or backing up or whatever would have remdied the situation, he kept on truckin' and snapped the pole.

3,500 people were without power for six hours, including the radio station.

During that time, the battery back-ups (called UPSes, but which I call DHLs - sort of a poor radio announcer's joke-or a radio announcer's poor joke, I don't know which) failed and all of the computers quit. While quited, they also mixed up data and dropped some.

So I have been busily trying to rebuild almost the whole thing all over again.

That's radio! Two 16 hour days in a row! And two more to go this week.

Someday its actually going to be as fun as it should!

If I survive, I will be back to regularly blogging.

If I don't survive, I'll see you over there.

I'm thinking the proper sobriquet would be "a poor radio announcer's poor joke". Not implying you're poor, as in a "bad" radio announcer. In fact, I'm not implying you're economically disadvantaged, either. Nor is the joke all that bad--I can't really tell, 'cause I ain't got a clue what DHL means.

Forget I said anything...

Wow. I'm not 100% sure what all that means, except that you are working hard, long hours.

I miss your blog posts... Thanks for commenting on mine. You are a good brother. Peace.

Glad to see your post. I noticed that you hadn't posted in a few days and I was beginning to think you might be sick or something...glad it isn't that. Have missed reading your blog these last few days!

Jeff: Both DHL and UPS are delivery services.

Danny: That's alright. I'm never 100% sure what all that means.

I'll try to get back on schedule someday real soon.

Yipes! I even have to enter the secret word to comment on my own blog...what kinda deal is that?

Joe,
We just ended our busiest month ever at my work. And starting Monday our equipment started falling apart. Luckily, we've been able to make it out every day on time, but wore slap out. That's how we say it in Tennessee.

The hard work and the long hours will all be worth it, Joe. Plus, "it won't be long, til we'll be leaving." Remember that song? This time here is so short compared to what we have ahead of us. GLORY! Can you amen that, brother?
Glad you made it through, and glad you'll be there with me.

Hang in there!

Things happen. Once my dad cut through a 12 inch pressurized water main in a fairly large city. Golly that was a lot of water and mud!

Ahem, Jeff: UPS is a battery backup device for a computer. Not to be confused with USP, which also has to do with computers, but helps you go forward with connections, etc.

It wasn't that funny anyway...I guess. (Although I laughed a lot.)
