I am normally a laid back kind of a guy.
I love the Lord and things of the Lord. I love Jesus. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and..."
Because I love Jesus, I love Truth, which is a who, not a what.
Today I got my blood pressure raised by the responses of some totally irresponsible reporting of and reaction to William Bennett's remarks to a caller on his show.
In response to a question by a caller, Mr. Bennett said, in part, "If you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were your sole purpose -- you could abort every black baby in this country and your crime rate would go down. That would be an impossibly ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down..."
As anyone with more than a third grade reading ability would immediately recognize, he was using an example of false logic to make a point. In fact he said that he was using "a hypothetical analogy while at the same time saying the proposition I was using about blacks and abortion was 'impossible, ridiculous, and morally reprehensible,' just to ensure those who would have any doubt about what they were hearing, or for those who tuned in to the middle of the conversation."
But liberal talk-show hosts, the Democratic Party leaders and the White House have castigated him for his remarks.
Let's be clear. William Bennett said that such a hypothetical would be a bad thing. In other words, aborting every black baby on the premise that it would reduce crime would be the wrong thing to do. He was condemning the idea.
If you heard or read his remarks and you thing he was wrong to make them, what you are really saying is that YOU think black babys SHOULD be aborted to reduce crime.
And if you think that was Mr. Bennett's intent, you are stupid.
If you are a white person and you think that was Mr. Bennett's intent, you are stupid.
If you are a black person and you think that was Mr. Bennett's intent, you are stupid.
If you are an oriental person and you think that was Mr. Bennett's intent, you are stupid.
If you are a leader of the Democratic Party and you think that was Mr. Bennett's intent, you are stupid.
If you are a member of the White House staff and you think that was Mr. Bennett's intent, you are stupid.
In fact, if you are a person of average intelligence or better, you know he was saying EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE!
You are smart enough to realize that, aren't you?
You DO recognize the truth when you see it, don't you?
I can think of only one reason that a newscaster, party leader, talk-show host, newspaper reporter, leader of the Rainbow Coalition, the NAACP, or anyone else would take the one sentence out of its context and make it seem like he was making a racist remark, when he was, in fact, he was castigating those who would think such a thing. That is: that person is steeped in deliberate lies and pure evil.
This is absolute proof that it is time to back off on "political correctness," and get down to real communication.
Don't be stupid.

Welcome to the world of spin and sound bites! It's no longer what your say or even how you say it, it's who hears it.
Common sense is not so common these days.
Thus, many stupids!
But, Joe--they're all "stuck on stupid."
preach it brother!
It's also how much they want you to hear. Sic em Joe!
I can't believe I just heard my ears, or read with my eyes. That is so stupid! Go Joe, keep the truth out there!
Good on you Joe for speaking the truth and preaching it. We need more of that in the world these days. Too many sugar coat things or just don't even bother with that, but speak stupidity instead.
I think in things like what that guy said, people tend to just read or hear what they want. They want to point fingers (without realizing there are 3 pointing back at themselves) and look to condemn without actually using the grey matter that God gave them to use.
It's sad. Someone stands up for the truth such as that man and he gets condemned for saying something he didn't say. Now, had he actually said what they thought he said, then he would only be asking for that kind of treatment. But, he did not say what they thought he said, therefore he does not deserve the treatment he is getting.
Many people don't like to hear the truth. They want to argue and complain and point fingers and yell and scream and accuse others of whatever, but they just don't want to hear the truth...maybe because they fit into those categories (maybe such as being a racist or whatever) and figure if they can point fingers at others and let them take the heat and harassment, then they won't have to put up with that themselves and many, just many, no one would be the wiser to their hidden identity. Hope all of that made sense...I need to learn to say the same thing with less words lol.
Joe...you are correct, sir! Poor Bill Bennett, he is the latest victim of deliberate misunderstanding. Yes, deliberate musunderstanding. Sounds like an oxymoron, but what can we expect when there are morons at the root?
That was some intelligent venting, man. Seriously.
Go, Joe! I agree with both you and Billy B himself. In fact, I was thinking, "only people with intelligence can really understand Bennett's vocabulary and logic," so it didn't surprise me that he was misunderstood and misquoted. But then again, so is Jesus. Pray for your enemies--er, the stupids.
Bennett's been around long enough to know that he was taking a risk with that kind of language, in that forum, knowing that people tune in halfway through and make up half truths (which are whole lies). You're in good company here. Keep it up!
Right on, Brother!
Sic 'em is right. Go get 'em Joe!
Please be more honest with how you feel and what you think!
I agree with you. Lots of stupidity to go around. I also think Bennett has to realize how this 'false logic' will sound out of context. Mixing race with abortion... All he needed was to toss in some right to die stuff too!
But I have wondered for some time if an effective political/moral ad campaign might be to ask, in a survey styled ad, "If you are pro-abortion, who would you rather abort: A white, a black, a liberal, a conservative, an atheist, a Christian..."
Think anyone would complain about that one?
Joe,
I have the Ferdinand song stuck in my head and found your post. Do you remember the rest of the words?
"Ferdinand, Ferdinand, the bull with the delicate ego Ferdinand, Ferdinand, the ladies all called him amigo."
Thanks!
