As you no doubt read a couple of posts ago, my wife has taken up sewing.
"Think of the money we can save, " she excitedly proclaimed.
Now, it is my experience that everytime my wife tells me she has or is going to save money, my bank account shrinks.
A few months ago, she bought a couple of outfits, which I later learned were about $15.00 each, a savings of about $3.99 each. My bank account balance went down $30.00.
If we keep saving money, I'll go broke.
Anyway, the sewing hobby is going to save us who knows how many thousands.
Like the new sewing machine. It saved us $103.oo, costing only $440.00, because it was a close-out.
Then there were the new needles, and the boxes and boxes of thread of evey color of the rainbow, as well as some colors the rainbow has never heard of. When will she ever use magenta, sepia or puce (did I spell that right?)? The account dropped $45.00.
Don't forget the material. She had to buy some to practice on and some to make the real thing out of. $75.00.
Now she needs two tables on which to sew. With plastic resin tops, one for $70.00 and one for $60.00.
While she saved me $132.49, my bank account suffered to the tune of $690.00!
Do you know how many outfits at $15.00 each she could buy with $690.00? 46.
Six years from now, when she completes her 46th outfit, we will begin realizing the savings from her new hobby. Only by then it will be time to buy a new sewing machine.
My wife finished her first skirt today and tried it on. It was too small. So she had to tear out the stitches and start all over, proving what the Bible says:
"Whatsoever a man seweth, that shall he also rip."

I LOVE the last quote!!!
Don't forget the added advantage of all "busted" seams and ripped knees than can patched and repaired so much faster and easier. You paid almost 700 dollars for your wife's peace of mind. Don't you think that's worth it?
